Terry

Terry Watkinson was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Following high school, he moved to Toronto to study architecture at the University of Toronto. After completing two years, he joined the up and coming rock band Max Webster with Kim Mitchell. Over the next eight years, the band toured throughout North America and Europe playing to sold out audiences in venues such as Maple Leaf Gardens and recording six gold and platinum records.

When the band ended, Terry returned to the University of Toronto and earned the challenging B. Sc. in medical illustration. He went on to teach surgical illustration and perspective for the university's Biomedical Communications program. His illustrations are featured in many medical textbooks and journals.

Using his many life experiences, this multi-talented artist creates a brilliant sense of light, depth and emotion in his spectacular wilderness scenes and cityscapes.

Terry's paintings incorporate many of his life experiences: From his Thunder Bay childhood, his bond with the Canadian north. From his architectural studies, structure, precision, draftsmanship, the science of perspective. From medical illustration, anatomy and disciple. From his music, rythm, daring, the big gesture, and communication.

Terry now lives in Winnipeg, where he finds the light and space of the west inspiring.
