Archival Framing
Archival framing is a framing technique used by galleries and museums to ensure the longevity of a piece. Special materials and precautions are taken to ensure that environmental factors such as UV rays from sunlight do not deteriorate a piece. Certain types of wood or matting containing high amounts of acid can degrade and even burn your art, so our craftsmen use acid free mats and cotton barriers to preserve your valuable pieces. With archival framing, our craftsmen can create frames with all of the charm of a historical frame without the liabilities older frames pose to your valuable pieces.
Replica Framing
Replica Framing is an excellent way to display pieces with historical significance. Mouldings are chosen to match or reflect the time period in which a piece was produced and the frame the artist would have had the piece framed in. Replica frames have been produced in our Downtown Winnipeg frame shop for prominent pieces by William Kurelek, Maud Lewis and Joe Norris that reflect their respective time periods.
