William Winter (1909-1996) was a prominent Canadian post-war modernist painter celebrated for his vibrant depictions of children. Born and trained in Winnipeg, he later moved to Toronto where he found artistic and commercial success. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy and Ontario Society of Artists. Winter's artwork is held by museums nationwide, including the National Gallery of Canada.
