  • After a fair market value has been agreed upon, we may need to examine the artwork for condition and authentication.
     
  • In the case of larger works or collections which may be awkward to transport, we will visit your location to view the works.
     
  • Crating and shipping is available when needed.
     
  • Purchase options include outright purchase or consignment sale.
     
  • Commission with regard to consignment sales is an agreed-upon percentage between Mayberry Fine Art and the seller. It is based on the value of the artwork. Commission on higher valued works can be as low as 5%.
     
  • Unless specifically expressed otherwise all values and prices discussed or published are in Canadian funds.

George Henry Boughton
ARA, RA

1834 - 1905
 
The painter G. H. Boughton was born near Norwich in England in1834. He was taken to America as an infant where he lived in Albany, New York. There at age 19 he sold his first work to the American Art Union and used the proceeds to visit London. He returned to America for two years then returned to Europe to study in Paris. He finally settled in London at the beginning of the 1860s. Boughton exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy, other British venues, the National Academy in New York, and various international exhibitions. He became ARA in 1879, RA in 1896, and was also elected to be a Member of the National Academy of Design in America in 1871. Boughton specialised in figures in landscapes - typically peasants at work and, from 1881, some Dutch subjects.
