Bruce Monk, teacher, choreographer, photographer, has been creating fine art photography since 1987. His works are in many personal collections, exhibited internationally and are in the permanent collection of the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. Bruce’s work has been featured in campaigns for both Leica and Hasselblad cameras and used in films as diverse as “Vanilla Sky” and “Two For The Money”.
Bruce is also a graduate of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, a former dancer with the Company and has been teaching in the RWB School Professional Division for 23 years.
His interest in alternative printing originated while working part-time at a one-hour photo lab, seeing firsthand the short lifespan of contemporary photographic materials. This discovery led him to pursue printmaking processes that can withstand the test of time. After three years of study and a self directed photography course at OCA he produced a successful Platinum print and has been practicing the procedure since 1991.
