Elene Gamache was born in Quebec City, Quebec in 1951. From 1967 to 1971 she studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Quebec, then, from 1971 to 1972, at Laval University in Quebec, and also at the Banff School of Fine arts in 1982 and 1986. Between 1980 and 1995 Gamache participated in several group shows including Les Femmeuses, organized by Pratt and Whitney in Montreal (1991, 92, 93), and Canadian Tapestry Movements at the Minneapolis Institute of arts. She is represented in many private and public collections including the Justice Ministry of the Province of Quebec, the External affairs Ministry in Ottawa, the Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal, and Dupont Canada Inc. in Toronto.
