Clarence Tillenius was born in Manitoba in 1913. A keen student of nature since his childhood days, he has devoted a lifetime to painting all species of Canadian wildlife. His subjects, ranging from grizzly in the Yukon and caribou in Newfoundland to bison on the rolling prairie, come to life on the canvas. This artist\'s paintings and sketches are the product of years of study and observation of animals in their natural habitat. Despite the loss of his painting arm in a construction accident in 1936, Tillenius has continued in his determination to capture Canada\'s vanishing wildlife on canvas. Among his major accomplishments have been the dioramas created for the provincial museums of British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba, as well as the National Museum of Canada. He is a founding member of the Society of Animal Artists in New York and the Society of Wildlife Art of the Nations (SWAN) in England. Clarence Tillenius is recognized as one of Canada\'s premier artists who has made a lasting contribution to the public understanding and appreciation of wildlife. His paintings are found in private and corporate collections worldwide.
